Every tool.
Explained.
This guide covers every tab, every slider, every metric. Start at the top or jump to the section you need using the sidebar.
MicroEdge has six tabs. On desktop they appear in a left sidebar. On mobile they appear as a horizontal scrollable tab bar just below the instrument selector -- swipe left to reveal Double Up, Risk, My Log, My Stats, and Community.
The six tabs are designed to be used in sequence during a trading day:
Before you trade
Set up the Calculator with your instrument, account size, and risk parameters. Then open the Order Strategy to generate your bracket order values.
Check your risk
Review the Risk tab to confirm your position size is within your personal risk preferences and the consecutive loss simulator looks survivable.
After you trade
Log your session in My Log -- P&L, time, notes. Request AI coaching on your notes. Optionally share the response to the community.
Track your progress
Review My Stats for your equity curve, streaks, drawdown, and calendar. See how your edge evolves over time.
00Signing in
Tap My Log in the sidebar (desktop) or the tab bar at the top (mobile). If you're not signed in, you'll see the sign-in prompt. Sign in with Google or create an account with your email address.
- Google sign-in -- a popup window will appear. Select your account. If the popup doesn't appear, your browser may be blocking popups -- allow them for microedge.io.
- Email sign-in -- create an account with your email and a password, or sign in if you already have one.
- First time? You'll be prompted to name your first trading account before entering the log.
- Your data is stored privately in Firebase. No one else can see your sessions.
01Calculator
The calculator is the core of MicroEdge. It shows you your real edge -- gross win, gross loss, net EV, true RRR, and expected daily P&L -- all after round-trip commission. Every metric updates live as you drag the sliders.
Setup sliders
| Slider | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Account size ($) | Your current account balance. Directly typed, not a slider. Used to calculate risk % per trade and position sizing in the Risk tab. |
| Contracts | Number of contracts per trade. Synced bidirectionally with the Order Strategy panel and the Risk tab contracts slider. |
| Win rate | Your expected win rate as a percentage. Used to calculate Net EV and expected daily P&L. |
| Target (ticks) | Your profit target in ticks. One tick = the minimum price movement for the selected instrument. |
| Stop (ticks) | Your stop loss in ticks. Together with Target, determines your gross RRR before commission. |
| Trades per day | How many trades you take per day. Used to calculate expected daily P&L and total daily commission drag. |
| Commission ($/contract) | Your broker's commission per contract per side. MicroEdge always calculates round-trip (x2). Synced with the Risk tab. |
Reading the metrics
| Metric | Formula | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Gross win / trade | Contracts x Target ticks x Tick value | What you'd make on a winner before commission. |
| Gross loss / trade | Contracts x Stop ticks x Tick value | What you'd lose on a loser before commission. |
| Net EV / trade | (Win rate x Gross win) - (Loss rate x Gross loss) - Commission | Your expected value per trade after commission. If this is negative, your setup is a losing system regardless of win rate. |
| True RRR | Net win / Net loss (after commission both sides) | Your real reward:risk ratio. Almost always lower than the headline ratio because commission eats more of the win than the loss on small moves. |
| Expected daily P&L | Net EV x Trades per day | What you should expect to make on a typical day assuming your historical win rate holds. |
| Market move / trade | Target ticks x Tick size (points) | How many points price must move to hit your target or stop. Useful for gauging whether your setup is realistic for the instrument. |
| Total commission / day | Trades/day x Contracts x Rate/ct x 2 | Your daily commission burden. A warning fires when this exceeds 40% of your gross daily turnover. |
Instruments
MicroEdge supports 40+ CME futures instruments. Quick-access buttons show the most common: MNQ NQ MES ES MCL. The "More Instruments" dropdown organizes all others by group: Equity Index, Energy, Metals, FX, Agriculture, Interest Rates.
When you change instrument, all tick values, point values, and commission calculations update instantly across the calculator, order strategy, and risk tab.
A tick is the minimum price increment for a futures contract. For MNQ it's 0.25 index points. For ES it's 0.25 points. For NQ it's 0.25 points.
A point is one full index point. For MNQ, 1 point = 4 ticks = $2. For ES, 1 point = 4 ticks = $50.
The spec strip at the bottom of the Setup section shows the Tick Value (dollars per tick), Tick Size (points per tick), and Point Value (dollars per full point) for the selected instrument.
Your raw ratio (Target ticks / Stop ticks) ignores commission. Commission is paid on both sides of every trade -- once to enter, once to exit.
On a winning trade: you receive Gross Win minus commission. On a losing trade: you lose Gross Loss plus commission. So commission makes your winners smaller and your losers bigger, reducing your effective RRR.
On tight scalping setups with small target ticks, commission can reduce a 2:1 gross ratio to 1.2:1 or less after costs.
If you're signed in and have logged at least one session, the sidebar above the instrument toolbar shows your most recent session at a glance: date, net P&L, session length, and progress toward doubling your account.
The progress bar tracks cumulative P&L from your starting account size toward your 2x goal.
02Order Strategy
Click the blue Generate Order Strategy button at the bottom of the calculator to open the Order Strategy panel. This panel works backwards from your daily profit goal to give you exact bracket order values to enter in your broker.
Setting your daily goal
Enter a Daily profit goal -- the dollar amount you want to make today. MicroEdge divides this by the number of trades the calculator expects and works out what each trade must net to hit that total.
Bracket order values explained
| Value | What it is | Where to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Target per trade | Your limit order target in ticks (and dollar value). The price must reach this many ticks from your entry to fill your profit target. | Set as your bracket "profit target" order in your broker platform. |
| Stop per trade | Your stop loss in ticks. Maximum loss on any single trade. | Set as your bracket "stop loss" order. |
| Auto breakeven at | When price moves this many ticks in your favor, move your stop to entry. Locks in a scratch trade at worst. | Use the "auto breakeven" feature in Tradovate, NinjaTrader, Rithmic, TradeStation, and most bracket-order brokers. |
| Trailing stop | After breakeven is triggered, trail your stop this many ticks behind price. Lets winners run while protecting profit. | Set as your trailing stop distance after breakeven fires. |
| Daily loss limit | The dollar amount at which you should stop trading for the day. Automatically calculated from your account size and the daily loss limit % in the Risk tab. | Set this as a hard stop in your broker platform's daily loss limit feature. |
Warnings and the equity curve
The simulated equity curve at the top of the panel shows a probabilistic path to your goal based on your win rate and EV. It's a simulation -- not a guarantee -- but it visualizes what consistent execution should look like over the course of the session.
The mismatch fires when your daily goal exceeds what your current setup can reasonably deliver. Specifically, it appears when your goal is larger than the expected daily P&L calculated by the calculator (Net EV x Trades per day).
For example: if your calculator shows expected daily P&L of $150, but your goal is $400, MicroEdge flags this. You can either reduce your goal, increase contracts, improve your target/stop ratio, or increase trades per day.
The suggested goal is typically 70% of your calculator's expected daily P&L -- achievable on a good day without stretching.
The Target RRR in the Order Strategy is an input to the strategy calculation, not a sync from the calculator. You can set a higher or lower RRR goal here independently of your calculator sliders.
The calculator's Target / Stop ticks give you your actual RRR from the current broker setup. The Order Strategy panel lets you specify what RRR you're aiming for and computes bracket values accordingly.
03Risk Tab
The Risk tab has five sections. It reads your calculator setup and your personal risk preferences to give you a complete picture of what your trading looks like from a risk management perspective.
Section 1 -- Risk analysis metrics
| Metric | What it means |
|---|---|
| Edge (EV per $1 risked) | Your net EV divided by your max loss per trade. Positive = you have a real edge. Negative = you're running a losing system even if you win more than you lose. |
| Account % per trade | Max loss per trade as a percentage of account size. Active traders typically run 2-3%. Above 5% starts to become high-risk. |
| Max loss / trade | Gross loss at full stop on all contracts. This is the worst case on any single trade. |
| 5-loss streak | What 5 consecutive full-stop losses would cost in total, shown in dollars and as a % of your account. A gut check for whether your position size survives a bad run. |
| Daily loss limit (3% rule) | The dollar amount at which you should stop trading for the day. Calculated from your account size x your Max Daily Loss % preference. |
| Commission drag / day | Total commission you pay per day at your current trades/day and commission rate. Synced with the calculator. |
Section 2 -- Your risk preferences
These sliders let you set your personal risk parameters. They persist across sessions and affect the calculations in Sections 3, 4, and 5.
| Preference | What it does |
|---|---|
| Risk per trade (%) | Your target account risk per trade. Position Sizing (Section 3) shows ideal contract counts at this level and one step below it. |
| Max daily loss (%) | Your personal daily stop-trading threshold. Updates the daily loss limit card in Section 1 and the recovery metrics in Section 5. |
| Commission ($/ct) | Bidirectionally synced with the calculator's commission slider. Changing it here also changes it in the calculator. |
| Consecutive losses to simulate | Controls the loss simulator in Section 4. Drag to simulate the impact of N consecutive full-stop losses. |
| Min acceptable RRR | A personal reference point. Not linked to any calculation -- just a reminder of your own minimum standard. |
The risk profile gauge below the sliders is a color-coded bar showing where your current setup sits on the risk spectrum from Conservative (green) to Danger (red). It updates live as you change the calculator.
Section 3 -- Position sizing
This section shows you how many contracts fit within your risk preferences and compares that to your current setting.
- Ideal contracts at (Risk%-1)% -- the conservative end of your risk range.
- Ideal contracts at Risk% -- the upper end, your stated risk preference.
- Your current contracts -- what you have set in the calculator right now, compared to both benchmarks with a badge (Within 3% / Over 3% / Far over 3%).
- The Contracts slider here is synced with the calculator and order strategy. Moving it here moves it everywhere.
Section 4 -- Consecutive loss simulator
Drag the Consecutive losses to simulate slider in your Risk Preferences and this section updates in real time. It shows you three things about a streak of N losses:
- Account after streak -- what your balance would be after N consecutive full-stop losses.
- Drawdown -- the total dollar and percentage loss from your current account size.
- Wins to recover -- how many consecutive winning trades you'd need at your current net win to get back to even.
Section 5 -- Break-even analysis
| Metric | What it means |
|---|---|
| Wins to cover daily commission | How many winning trades you need before you've paid off your daily commission burden. Before this many wins, every profit is really just commission repayment. |
| Min win rate to break even | The lowest win rate at which your setup produces a positive net EV. At your current RRR, you must win at least this often to be profitable long-term. |
| Margin of safety | How far your actual win rate sits above the break-even floor. The larger this number, the more resilient your edge is to variance and slippage. |
| Daily loss recovers in | How many trading days of normal performance it would take to fully recover a max daily loss. Based on your expected daily P&L from the calculator. |
04Session Log
My Log is where you record what happened in each trading session. On desktop it's in the left sidebar. On mobile, tap the My Log tab in the horizontal tab bar at the top of the screen. It's private, synced to your account via Firebase, and accessible on any device.
Multiple accounts
MicroEdge supports multiple trading accounts. Each account has its own session history, stats, and calendar. Use separate accounts for your personal account, your Apex account, your FTMO account, and so on.
First-time setup
When you sign in for the first time, MicroEdge prompts you to name your first account and optionally enter a starting balance. Give it a descriptive name like "Apex $50k" or "Personal" — you can always rename it later from the Settings drawer.
Select your account
Use the Account dropdown at the top of the log form to choose which account this session belongs to. The dropdown shows all your accounts.
Add a new account
Tap the + button next to the Account dropdown. Enter a name and an optional starting balance. The account is saved immediately. Free plan supports 1 account — upgrade to EdgePro for multiple accounts.
Filter by account
In My Stats, use the Account dropdown at the top to filter all stats and the P&L calendar to a specific account. Great for tracking prop firm challenges separately from your personal account.
Logging a session
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Date | Defaults to today. Change it if logging a past session. |
| Session length | Hours and minutes. Optional but useful for stats -- session length is tracked in My Stats. |
| Account size ($) | Your account balance at the time of the session. When you save, this auto-fills the calculator's account size field if the session is the most recent one. |
| Net P&L ($) | Your total realized P&L for the session. Enter as a positive or negative number (+350 or -120). Colors green/red as you type. |
| Trades taken | Total number of trades in the session. Used to calculate your average P&L per trade in the history view. |
| Win rate today (%) | Your win rate for this session. Stored separately from your calculator's win rate setting. |
| Notes | The most important field. Write what actually happened -- what you did well, what you didn't, what the market was like. The quality of your AI coaching depends entirely on the specificity of your notes. |
AI coaching with Claude
After saving a session with notes, tap Get Claude's take on any history entry. MicroEdge sends your session notes (plus your P&L, win rate, and instrument context) to Claude via a secure Netlify function. You get a direct, honest coaching response -- not cheerleading.
Claude receives your session notes, P&L, win rate, session length, instrument, and account size range. It does not receive your real name or any identifying information -- everything is anonymized.
The system prompt instructs Claude to act as a direct trading coach focused on process, not outcomes. It avoids false encouragement and focuses on identifying behavioral patterns in the notes.
Yes. Every session entry with notes has a "Get Claude's take" button regardless of when it was logged. Once coaching is generated, it's saved to the session entry permanently -- you don't need to request it again.
Sessions without notes show "Add notes to get coaching" instead of the Get Claude's take button. You can't request coaching without notes — the notes are the input. You can edit an existing session using the edit button on any history entry to add or update notes, then request coaching after saving.
Editing a session
Every session entry has an edit button. Tap it to open a pre-filled form with all the original values. You can correct the date, P&L, trades, win rate, or notes without deleting and re-logging. Changes are saved to Firestore immediately. Any AI coaching already generated for that session is preserved.
Sharing & export
- Share to Community -- available after getting AI coaching. Choose a category (Psychology, Risk, Strategy, Setup, General) and post the session note + AI response anonymously to the community feed. No name, no account size, no identifiable information.
- Share to social -- generates a shareable image card showing your P&L, instrument, and key stats. Designed for Twitter/X. Tap "Share to social" on any history entry.
- Export CSV EdgePro -- downloads your full session history as a CSV file. Available on the EdgePro plan.
05My Stats
My Stats gives you a longitudinal view of your performance across all logged sessions. Use the Account dropdown at the top to filter everything to a specific account.
Streaks & performance
| Metric | What it means |
|---|---|
| Current streak | Your current run of consecutive winning or losing days. W = win day, L = loss day. |
| Best win streak | The longest consecutive run of profitable days you've logged. |
| Win day % | Percentage of your logged trading days that ended in profit. |
| Best day / Worst day | Your highest and lowest single-day P&L across all logged sessions. |
| Avg P&L / day | Mean daily P&L across all sessions. Negative = you're losing money on average. |
P&L Calendar
The calendar shows every day you logged a session. Green days are profitable, red days are losses, grey days have no session. Each day shows the net P&L for that session.
- Use the ‹ › arrows to navigate months.
- Tap any colored day to expand it and see the full session details inline -- P&L, trades, win rate, session length, notes, and AI coaching if you have it.
- The Account dropdown at the top filters the calendar to show only sessions from the selected account.
Drawdown from peak tracks your cumulative P&L over all sessions and identifies the highest point it reached. Current drawdown is the dollar amount you're below that peak right now.
This is useful for understanding whether you're in a drawdown period and how deep it is. If your peak was +$5,000 and you're now at +$3,200, your current drawdown is -$1,800 (-36%).
Account growth is calculated from the account size you logged on your first session to the account size on your most recent session. Cumulative P&L is the sum of all net P&L entries.
These can differ if you've added funds to or withdrawn from the account between sessions, or if your account sizes weren't consistently logged.
06Community
The Community tab shows anonymously shared session notes and AI coaching responses from other MicroEdge users. Every post is a real session -- real notes, real Claude response, anonymized instrument and P&L direction.
Reading community lessons
Each card in the community feed shows:
- Category badge -- Psychology, Risk Management, Strategy, Setup, or General. Use the filter buttons to show only one category.
- Instrument, P&L direction, date -- no name or account size. Anonymized.
- Session note -- what the trader wrote about their session, in their own words.
- AI coaching preview -- the first part of Claude's response. Tap "Read more" to expand the full coaching.
- Net P&L and account size range -- shown as exact P&L and approximate account size bucket.
- Heart / like button -- like lessons you find useful. More likes = more prominent in the feed.
Sharing your own coaching
After getting AI coaching on a session in My Log, you'll see a Share to Community button on that entry. Tap it, choose a category that best describes the coaching topic, and confirm.
